First, we watch “the wicker man”, in our opinion we can not understand the movie plot. We felt “blank”. We try to understand this movie from the title “the wicker man.” We think Nicolas Cage as Edward Malus is the man who cause unlucky. Why we can tell Edward as it? Because when Edward Malus take a doll from the way which thrown by her. So Edward Malus as the police take it and chase the car. Next he give the doll for a daughter in the car. We too sure price when she throw a doll to cross way. Edward picks up a doll. when he want give for her, suddenly the car is struck by the truck. So the car is burned. After this accident, Edward goes to a psychiatrist because he always can not forget this accident. He always imagines about the accident and then he remembers about him daughter who lost. So as the good father he tries to find her daughter. He goes to the desolate island which her wife lives. When he arrive the desolate island by the coaster, he goes to villages in the desolate island. After arrive in villages he meet with strange people who takes a big poke which full with blood. He suggest in the big poke is carrion animal. So he ignores it. He lease the small hotel which full with the mysterious people after he notice their. Next he goes out to search him daughter. First he try to ask villagers about him daughter but no any one people who know him daughter and then he goes to a school and he meet one of teacher, he ask her about her daughter (Rowan) but he can not get a good answers. He notices the class he see a empty desk. When he asks her about empty desk the teacher can not give a good answer. So Edward angry for her and he open the absent book, he find one of name “Rowan Malus.” He angry with teacher because he was lied by her. So the teacher invites Edward to out class to talk about him daughter. She explain about him daughter, she say Rowan Malus was die because Rowan was burned in a harvest festival. So he goes to grave to find her tomb but he can not find her corpse, he just finds her doll.
He meet him wife(Willows) and then her explains about her daughter to his husband that her daughter have happy life but Edward notice Rowan’s bad room and he find a transcription “Help me” by Rowan. It can he is panic.
He join the harvest festival and he find him daughter as a "dedication of harvest festival" so that he try to release and run out but he is arrested by villagers. The fact he just as a invitation from harvest festival because he is a wicker man. He is very dissappointed because he was lied by villagers and also him daughter and him wife. He is binded by villagers. Him feed be breaked by villagers. So he is crying. And than he is hanged at big wicker and he is burned by daughter. Finally Edward Malus is die with said and cry and the villagers be happy because can present the victim to their god.
At first this movie can not be understand but in mid movie we can understand movie plot. This is a good job by the writer and production designer who give a thriller for the watcher. The mysterious plot can be watcher embittered and watcher can not guess the ending movie. When the complication climax, watcher gets thriller plot and this movie be watched good by watcher. May be, mysterious plot can be it but for common people, the mysterious plot can be bored and their do not watch it.
On the other hand, “The Wicker Man” have any bad story. There are an imagines in the movie. Watcher be difficulty to differentiate the facts and the imagines. So it can be wrong understanding in the movie.
